The blade absolutely chewed through the tangled roots I’ve been fighting in my backyard for years. It’s heavier than my old shovel, but that weight does the work for you, and the edge stayed sharp through a whole afternoon of digging.

Bought this for clearing out some overgrown brush, and the V-shaped blade really digs into hard soil without bending. That serrated edge on the side sliced through a tangle of roots like they were butter.

Cut through a stubborn oak root in about three swings, which my old shovel never managed without a lot of jumping. The round point digs into hard clay without sliding off, and the root-cutting edge is no gimmick.
